The Quotidian Soul
Many people associate the soul with religion and the afterlife but the soul (like God) is with you every day and every where even when you are at work, in the company of your family or friends, when you perform charity, and in prosperous and lean times alike. As such, it is necessary to do something to benefit the soul regularly.
Below are some suggestions for how to treat your soul better on a daily basis:
- Acknowledge your connection with the Creator. Build some quiet time into every day. Meditate and do some spiritual exercise (yoga, qigong, or tai chi) regularly.
- Pray. Pray again. And pray one more time. Expressing your hopes, fears, concerns, and wishes is cathartic and helps the process of manifesting your dreams.
- Read from your holy text of choice. That book is what it is because it spoke to the souls of millions of people. It is full of wisdom and suggestions for how to live a moral life.
- Take a minute to assess how your behavior affects others. Concentrate on the influences you want to put into the human ocean (the Akasha) and the memories you want to attract for yourself and your family. Acknowledge your responsibility to positively impact your community’s posterity.
- Sets – apologize for the same thing at least once a day for forty consecutive days. Then change to another mistake and do it again. Concentrate initially on what you believe God disapproves of and then include those times when you know you were wrong.
- Notice how your job or business affects your spirit. When you do not have other options, find a way to do something you enjoy or are passionate about if only for a few minutes a day. For example, watch a favorite pundit online, read a book, write a chapter, play a game, or listen to a song that appeals to you.
- Eat or drink something healthy for the brain (e.g., green tea) every day.
- While standing with arms straight above your head, breathe in deeply followed by directing the exhale through your entire incarnation. Do this thirty times.
Below are other ways to honor your soul:
- Worship or study with a community regularly.
- Do everything for your family.
- Never give up on what you believe you deserve or are willing to work for.
- Relationships have the potential to provide decades of care and attention with lifelong partners. Try to get it right or go it alone until someone special and deserving comes along.
- Be aware of the effect of music and speech on your soul by monitoring how your breath changes in response to the sounds. Surrounding yourself with negative lyrics can affect how you treat others.
- In times of grief or sadness, do some physical exercise regularly.
The quotidian soul needs your attention every day and is something you should cherish at all times. A bit of self-care is necessary no matter what religion one belongs to, where you are in life, your age, or your circumstances.
